What is Neural Therapy?
Neural Therapy is the injection of a local anesthetic into nerve sites, scars, muscle trigger points, acupuncture points, and other tissues to reset dysfunctional autonomic nervous system (ANS) signals and relieve pain.
What is the autonomic nervous system?
The autonomic nervous system controls and regulates most metabolic, immunological, healing, digestive, hormonal, and many other systemic functions. When the nervous system is interfered with, through physical trauma, surgery, emotional distress, toxic exposure, or long-term stress, this can result in poor function, pain, disability and disease of any part of the body.
Examples of conditions treated by Neural Therapy:
- Muscle pain, trigger points, sports injuries
- Joint pain
- Carpal tunnel syndrome
- Headaches, migraines, trigeminal neuralgia
- Digestive concerns
- Anxiety, depression
- Menstrual cramps
- Scars can create abnormal signals that affect the ANS for years after an injury or surgery, causing pain or dysfunction anywhere in the body, therefore, any scars should be treated as part of a Neural Therapy treatment.
- Many other organ dysfunctions
Is the treatment painful?
There is a slight prick as the needle in inserted and there may be some discomfort as the needle enters inflamed tissues. However, typically, it immediately subsides as the anesthetic in administered.
What to expect:
After the injection, you may experience: pain relief, improved mobility, a sense of euphoria, mild fatigue, and improved sleep.
Sometimes one treatment is enough to resolve the problem. However, symptoms usually return after the first treatment. Benefits usually last longer and longer each session until symptoms no longer return. Expect 3-6 treatments to determine if Neural Therapy is effective for you.
Possible side effects:
- Mild bruising and/or tenderness
- Temporary numbness
- Emotional release
